Yellow Everlasting
- perennial plant 20-40 cm tall. The root is branched, dark brown, woody. Stems erect, branching only at the inflorescence. Leaves subordinate, entire margins, like the stems - whitish hairy; lower leaves ovate, narrowed towards the stem.
Flowers - small ball-shaped baskets, which are placed at the top of the stem, in a shield-shaped inflorescence. Flowers yellow or orange.
Fruits - small, elongated, brownish. The plant blooms in June-August, the seeds ripen in August-September. In other years, it can be observed that it blooms again in August-September. The second flowering can also be observed if the first inflorescence is torn off - then the inflorescences are formed between the upper leaves and the stem. Each flower blooms for about 10-15 days; the first to bloom are the central flowers in the inflorescence. The plant reproduces thanks to seeds and vegetatively from root growths.
Inflorescences of the plant with approximately 1-2 cm long stem pods are used for medicinal purposes. Drugs are prepared at the beginning of flowering, until the side flowers open, in well-ventilated rooms on sieves, or in dryers at a temperature not exceeding 40C. The obtained drugs are stored in a dark place. The finished drugs consist of yellow or orange flower heads - on average 7 mm in size. They have a weak but pleasant aroma, astringent bitter taste. The moisture content of the drugs should not exceed 12%. Can be stored up to 3 years.
